Eating Europe #9: Mokafé

For the last leg of my spring Europe trip, the group of 5 Media & PR girls split, with two staying on to sun on the beaches of Portugal, one heading straight back to the UK and Yasho and I heading to out final destinations of Brussels and Amsterdam.

Eating Europe #8: Hamburgueria do Bairro

When my cousin walked me back and saw where my hostel in Lisbon was, she realised that I was staying near this really good burger place - one that satisfies her In-n-Out cravings! - and recommended I try it. After she left, I waited awhile for my travel buddies to return and as it crept closer to 7 I started to get really hungry...burger time?

Summertime Madness

After being worried about having enough to do this summer in addition to working on my dissertation (HA), I took on two new jobs in June - a part-time waitressing job and a work experience placement at a PR agency!

When I'm not working I'm in the library researching and writing my dissertation, so I've had no time to update this blog. Thankfully, I've been able to write several blogs for my work with the agency, and for the last one I got a bit personal and wrote from my own perspective.

Check it out!

Eating Europe #7: Pastéis de Belém

After taking a night train to Lisbon - from Madrid - we arrived at our hostel early in the morning. I had managed to get some sleep on the train, so I was rested enough (barely) to start my day. I had plans to meet my cousin, who had been living in Lisbon for five months at that point, so I was excited to just go with whatever she had planned.

Eating Europe #6: Chocolatería San Ginés

The experiences I have documented so far have been for the most part positive ones, but this next stop in Madrid was a bit disappointing. It was a must to visit one of the classic churro cafés in the city, so the gang and I went to the 121-year-old Chocolatería San Ginés. It was TripAdvisor-approved, maintaining a 4-star rating with almost 3,000 reviews.

Eating Europe #5: La Cocina de San Antón by Cinco Jotas

Upon arriving in Madrid, I found myself reading a lot about the various markets the city had to offer. Our first morning, we ventured out to find Mercado de San Antón for some lunch. The market's three levels include mainly food to take away and cook at home, a food court-type area with some fresh meals, and a bar and a terrace on top for finer dining.

Eating Europe #4: Chök, Barcelona

You know when you're exploring a new city, a certain something catches your eye in the window and you know there is no way you're leaving without it? Well, my first evening exploring Barcelona included that experience with a chocolate-covered pastry.
