After a walk along the windy beach, we wove through a few side streets to finally reach the almost hidden (not clearly marked) restaurant. It was a Sunday, around 2 pm, and all the tables at the small place was packed, with more groups waiting at the bar. At this point we (a group of five) were all pretty hungry, but took this crowd as a sign that it would be worth the wait. I believe they initially said it would be a 30 minute wait, and it ended up being slightly longer. Ultimately, it was worth it!
The only menu I saw was a set meal for €14,5 (apparently its even cheaper on the other days of the week) that included three courses, bread and water or wine. I got seafood paella as a starter, sirloin steak as my main meal and a coffee-flavored flan for dessert (which was one of several options, including other flavors of flan, wine soaked pear and strawberries and cream).
The food was nothing ground-breaking, but tasty - the paella had must more flavor to it that the one I had tried at a nearby restaurant the day before, the steak was cooked well and the dessert options were varied and everyone enjoyed. The best part of the experience was how much we got for the price...the paella alone was enough for a meal. Oh and - of the four of us who ordered the meal, I chose wine and the others chose water...which resulted in us being brought one large bottle of water and an entire bottle of wine! At first I was hesitant - is this really all mine at no extra charge? After reading through more reviews and glancing around at the other tables, I concurred that this was indeed how it worked here, and went on to indulge in about half the bottle.
Though the wait was long and it was one of the only places in Spain there was a bit of a language barrier with the wait staff (not really an issue and all, just an observation - as an ignorant Californian who is only fluent in English and knows some Spanish I was surprised and spoiled by how widely and fluently spoken English is in Europe), this place was awesome! Choices, large portions and a relaxed environment despite the place buzzing with customers.
